Registration
For healthcare professionals wanting to work in New Zealand you need to gain NZ registration in your field of practice prior to seeking work.
Nurses
In order to work in NZ your highest priority should be to obtain New Zealand Nursing Registration. To do this you need a registration pack. Contact Medacs Healthcare for details of how to obtain a pack or visit nursingcouncil.org.nz
Doctors
All overseas doctors who wish to work in NZ must obtain registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Medacs Healthcare cannot find you a position until you have established eligibility for registration.

Must be registered with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.

Occupational Therapists
Must be registered with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board.

Pharmacists
Must be registered with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand. Visit pharmacycouncil.org.nz
Physiotherapists
Reciprocal registration agreements exist between New Zealand and Australia and all other applicants will be individually assessed by the board. Visit physioboard.org.nz
Psychologists
Must be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. Visit psychologistsboard.org.nz
Radiographers
Must be registered with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board. Visit mrtboard.org.nz
Speech-Language Therapists
Must be registered with the NZ Speech-Language Therapists Association. Visit speechtherapy.org.nz
Dentists
Must be registered with the Dental Council of New Zealand. Visit dentalcouncil.org.nz
Audiologist
Must be registered with the NZ Audiological Society. Visit audiology.org.nz
Immigration
Permanent Residency
If you’re wanting to apply for permanent residency in NZ you need to contact the New Zealand Immigration Department. To check out your eligibility visit New Zealand Immigration on: www.immigration.govt.nz
Work Permits
These are issued for a specific length of stay (usually 1-2 years) following a written offer of employment from a NZ Health Provider. For enquiries into work permits contact New Zealand Immigration on: www.immigration.govt.nz
