I just wanted to make a comment in general about the job market in New Zealand. I came back home to NZ after 22 years in the Australain Army and Airforce. I have an extensive and wide range of job skills. I acquired my Diploma of Health and Safety and Quality Auditing with a good few years experience in both.

I find the total lack of professionalism and the she’ll be right attitude here back home totally astounding. I have been back since 2010 and had a few jobs, but over last 12 months of trying to get another job since my last one it has been quite hard. I keep getting lots of interviews, but companies don’t either respond that you have been accpeted or rejected, and when the do respond it’s either no feedback just you were unsuccessful or we felt you weren’t quite the fit we wanted. I have applied for jobs over the ditch and at least have had good feedback and responses.

My point is that companies need to be more thorough and professional in the feedback and responses area as I see a lot of good, highly professional people missing out because of the bad practises of some companies which can be so disheartening.
